Breast Ultrasound vs. Mammography

Breast Ultrasound vs. Mammography

A breast ultrasound is more accurate in women younger than 45 years.
A mammography is preferred in women older than 45 years.
An ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves on the breast and converts them into images.
A mammography uses low-dose X-ray to produce breast images known as a mammogram.

Diagnos Clinique offers both Mammography and Ultrasound imaging. Kindly call on the 467 15 15 or whatsapp us on the 57 57 15 15 and a doctor will assist you.

Ultrasound and x-rays produce different types of pictures. Generally speaking, ultrasound images can’t capture microcalcifications. Those tiny calcium deposits can often be some of the earliest signs of breast cancer. However, a mammogram can detect them.
A breast ultrasound has uses beyond being a follow-up tool. In some cases, a doctor will perform a breast biopsy, collecting a sample of tissue from the breast and testing it for cancer. They might use ultrasound imaging to guide the needle to the correct area of the breast.
